From perugia airport

Exit the airport and turn right. At the roundabout follow the signs for Cesena. You are now on the E45, leave it at the Unbertide/Gubbio exit, which may be sooner than suggested by your SATNAV. After about 10 mins you will see a magnificent castle high on a hill , just before this, take the turning on the left before it to double back on yourself to Pietralunga. Wind your way up and over the hills and then after about another 10mins driving turn left down into Pietralunga. At the bottom of the hill, turn right.

Carry straight on, by passing the town up to your right and leave it behind, following it out in the direction of Cagli. A little way out of Pietralunga you will see a 22KM marker, but the 23KM. is missing! (There are a lot of other markers, e.g. flying deer, but just focus on the KM’S). After about another 1km, take the second turning on the right, just before the road goes into a bend.  You will see a warning triangle sign with snow, rain and slippery road icons on it plus a wooden Il Monte sign. We are the 2nd house! The road dips down, and you cross a ford, don’t panic, it's a drive-able depth and often completely dry in summer. After this the road begins to climb. Depending on your car, how much luggage etc, it’s better to stay in second gear as you climb and change into first just before the top hair pin bend. Stay in first, and keep going, slow and steady. You will pass Matilda’s house on the right - Keep going, the road is still steep, all the way up and you will then see the gates of Il Monte. It sounds a tricky road to drive but is actually quite easy.

From the gates, proceed up the driveway, around the back of the house to the parking area where you can unload your luggage easily through the main door, into the bedrooms straight in and on the first floor.

From rome airport

If you use Sat Nav from Rome, when you are on the E45, come of earlier than possibly advised to and take the turning to Umbertide and Gubbio.
